My Dear Mother:
Thank you for your lovely letters.
Last night I started my debate of the
confirmation of Mr. Jackson. Today
it will be resumed at three o'clock.
My colleagues who disagree
with me are most courteous
and friendly.  There is no
animosity between us to
confuse thinking.  I enjoy the
combat of the forum:-
but I am tired today.  I will
snap back tomorrow.
Mildred is out again.  I am
glad you did not leave to go
to the polls to vote, also I
am glad you voted.  You are
the noblest citizen of all-
