My Dear Mother:
It was fine to visit with
you Sunday.
I had a perfectly comfortable
flight to Washington that
night.
Since then I have been
working in high gear to
get ready to debate the
question pending relating
to immunity of State and
Municipal bonds from
Federal taxation. It is a
dangerous thing to act as
if the Fed. government
had supremacy in the
field of taxation and
could injure or destroy
the necessary function
of the states to finance
their own government.
I was impressed by
your apparent good
health and good cheer.
