My Dear Mother:
Sen. Taft made a fine argument
this afternoon against the
Conscription bill- the most
free from the sloppy
talk about "war-mongering"
"militarizing," "anti-american"
etc which has come
from Senators Vanderberg,
Norris and Wheeler. It
was refreshing to one
like myself who is
persuaded that the bill
ought to be agreed to.
At present the debate
is directed to the Lee
Am. raising the base pay.
