My Dear Mother:
So much to do!
I have missed my corrrespondence
with you.
This convention is not a [ ]
convention. Indeed there is such
diversity of opinion regarding
platform and candidates that
the events of tomorrow are
unpredictable.
Taft grows in strength-
Wilkie grows in noise and
propaganda-
The great industrialists
suffering from the inferiority
complex created by years of
suffering from governmental
abuse, now seize the
opportunity to support one of their
own- Wendel Wilkie. I pity them.
They don't realize what they do
as they make such a tremendous
demonstration of power and
go to such extremes of propaganda.
Some of the telegrams we receive
are insulting in their threats
and demands. Many delegates
who are inclined to favor Wilkie
if a break occurs are being
alienated by their arbitrary
and unreasonable refusal to
stay with the ticket if any
one else should be nominated-
I will second Taft-
