United States Senate Washington, D.C. Jan. 23, '40. En route to Idaho. My Dear Mother: We are passing through Iowa. There is much snow and it is cold. Mrs. Borah is hold up bravely. I called on her in her compartment which is near mine.  Of course she is sad and confronted by many problems which it is important for her to solve wisely.  How I pity her.
