My Dear Mother:
This week will
be enlivened by the
reception of the King
and Queen of England. Mildred
and I are invited to the
garden party of the British
Embassy on Thursday the 8th.
Mildred will go, but I
am leaving here at 4 P.M.
for Vermont and so I
will not attend and will
miss other functions
during their visit. They
come to the Capital on the 9th
Mrs. Taft will also be absent
so Mr. Taft has asked
Mildred to go with him.
There will be a large crowd
here probably.
I have attended Judiciary
Committee this morning
and the Senate comes in
at noon.
I have been tipped off
that the Supreme Court may
today decide the milk
cases. Let us hope for
a decision favorable
to our poor farmers.
