My Dear Mother:
We passed the common
defense bill last night by
a large majority- only
8 voted against it.
Today I have attended
a sub-committee of the
Interstate Commerce Com.
and one of the District
Com. and now we are
in Session.
Sen. Tydings has the
floor and is talking about
Housing. I judge that he
is against it.
Arthur Packard, Pres.
of the VT. Farm Bureau is
here today. He is an
energetic and intelligent
representative of the
farm interest. I am
giving him all the time
I can to listen to his
argument in favor
of managed currency.
He would tie the value of
money to the changing
value of commodities.
It has at first look seemed
dangerous, however, I will
give it thorough study-
