United States Senate Washington June 8, 1938. My Dear Mother: It appears certain that we cannot adjourn this week.  Perhaps we  will next week. You may be interested to read my remarks made yesterday on the Monopoly Investigation resolution. These last days are hectic. The failure of my Amendment to the Spending Bill has made 10 democrats come out for an investigating committee- so it forced them to "save face."  There will be something in your next Washington Weekly on the subject- Best love, Warren
