					<l>My Dear Mother:</l>
					<l>Sen. Ham. Lewis is addressing the</l>
					<l>Senate with reference to a phase of our</l>
					<l>relations to Germany.  I think he</l>
					<l>is softening the blow of our</l>
					<l>refusal to sell helium gas to</l>
					<l>Germany.</l>
					<l>It is cold and rainy here and</l>
					<l>I supsect that your garden is</l>
					<l>still cold.  For your sake I hope</l>
					<l>that warm weather may come</l>
					<l>soon, altho&apos; it will mean</l>
					<l>difficulty for us.</l>
					<l>The shad are swimming</l>
					<l>in the Potomac &amp; I am going</l>
					<l>to a shad hole tomorrow,</l>
					<l>Saturday.  Best love,</l>
