United States Senate Washington, D.C. May 17, 1938. My Dear Mother: I am not going to participate in the debate or voting on the Bill to control the making and sale of films for movie shows.  I am a small stockholder in three theaters: The Majestic and The Flynn in Burlington and The Capital in Montpelier.  The amount of my interest is small but I do not want the smell of brimstone on my garments.  I could vote without conscious prejudice or bias, but I would rather feel free from the possibility that I do not know that my vote is influenced by selfish financial interest.  They are debating the bill now.  It is called the Neelly Block Booking Bill.  Best love, Warren
