					<l>United States Senate</l>
					<l>Washington, D.C.</l>
					<l>May 8, 1938</l>
					<l>My Dear Mother,</l>
					<l>Senator Clark of Missouri is</l>
					<l>speaking against the Navy Bill.</l>
					<l>The more I listen the more</l>
					<l>firmly am I pursuaded to</l>
<l>vote for the Bill.  However, he</l>
					<l>is a good fellow and</l>
					<l>sincere.</l>
<l>I am getting many calls for</l>
					<l>speeches during the summer</l>
<l>and it is hard to deny some</l>
					<l>of them.  I ought to have a long</l>
					<l>rest, free from such exercise.</l>
					<l>Mildred decidedly better.</l>
					<l>Best love,</l>
