United States Senate Washington March 2, 1938 My Dear Mother: Mildred is better but has not gone out.  She may get out today if it warms up. We are taking testimony in Sub. Com. on O'Mahoney-Borah licensing bill which would give the Fed. Gov't. life and death control of all corporations engaged in interstate commerce. This would be a long step toward totalitarianism- The debate on Mr. Jacksons nomination will not come today- Probably tomorrow. I intend to have something to say.  He will be confirmed however.
