COPY January 3, 1938 Dear Mother: It seems a long time since I left, and I have not had a good oppor- tunity to write you. We went to Mr. Cary's in New York, and, of course, had a busy time the two days we were there. Since arriving in Washington the pace has been speedy, I will tell you. We expect to hold a Republican Caucus this morning, at which we will elect our leader, and then we will go into Session at twelve o'clock. Apparently there will not be much, if any, contest over confirma- tion of the appointments of Messrs. Hopkins and Murphy. We are both well and hope you are too. Best love. Mrs. Chauncey G.
