<l>Warren R. Austin</l>
<l>Vermont</l>
<l>United States Senate</l>
<l>WASHINGTON, D. C.</l>
<l>August 13, 1937</l>
<l>Dear Mother:</l>
<l>I was delighted to have Senator McCarran come</l>
<l>to me, as he did yesterday morning on the</l>
<l>Floor of the Senate, and tell me that he had</l>
<l>received a letter from a lady in Vermont, and</l>
<l>that he was very happy about it; that it re-</l>
<l>minded him of his Mother.</l>
<l>Of course, I "got wise", and he finally told</l>
<l>me that you had written him.</l>
<l>Thank you so much for doing this; it will</l>
<l>undoubtedly strengthen the friendship which</l>
<l>had already sprung up between Senator McCarran</l>
<l>and myself.</l>
<l>With love from Mildred and me, I am,</l>
<l>Your loving son,</l>
<l>Warren</l>
<l>Mrs. Chauncey G. Austin,</l>
<l>91 South Main Street,</l>
<l>St. Albans, Vermont.</l>
