My Dear Mother-
We had a happy visit with you.
Our departure was hectic for lack of
time to do all we wanted to. We rose
at 3.45 A.M. & left at six. I would
have called you if it had not been
so early.
We drove thro' heavy rains and
some flood water from time to time
all day, arriving at Senator Barbours
at Red Bank, N.J. in time for dinner
7 P.M. Stayed over night in his
beautiful house. Left at six Monday
and arrived at Capital at 1 P.M.
It is hot here! But Mildred and
I are so refreshed by our Vermont
vacation that we can endure it.
Thursday-
I was interrupted at this point and
24 hours have elapsed.
We are at work on the amendments
to the A.A.A. Much debate is
expected.
The fatigue of legislators
and the heat render investigation
of any subject difficult.
Edward is in Military Camp
at Fort Ethan Allen continuing
his education. He will be there
about two weeks.
