					<l>COPY</l>
					<l>January 11, 1932</l>
					<l>My dear Mother:</l>
<l>I enjoyed your letter so much, and I am grateful</l>
<l>to you for calling attention to the Memorial to</l>
					<l>Senator Greene.</l>
<l>I have remitted to The Mess enger $5.00 from</l>
<l>Mildred and me which I assure you I am most happy</l>
<l>to contribute, and if they run short I will be</l>
					<l>glad to add to it.</l>
<l>We are wasting a lot of time here making politi-</l>
<l>cal speeches, but I suppose that, from years of</l>
<l>experience, this procedure has been found neces-</l>
					<l>sary. I strongly suspect however, that a new</l>
<l>batch of Senators with the right degree of</l>
<l>finesse and strength, could change this into a</l>
<l>more orderly body having some system that would</l>
<l>keep Senators on the issue before the Senate</l>
<l>until the business was transacted, and which</l>
<l>would also afford them a chance to make speeches</l>
					<l>at a proper time.</l>
<l>We are both well and join in sending you love.</l>
					<l>Your loving son,</l>
					<l>Mrs. C.G.Austin,</l>
					<l>91 South Main Street,</l>
					<l>St. Albans, Vermont.</l>
