					<l>December 22nd, 1919</l>
					<l>Hon. Frank L. Fish</l>
					<l>Vergennes</l>
					<l>Vermont</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>Dear Sir:-</l>
					<l>In order that full ratification of the Federal Suffrage</l>
					<l>Amendment may take place in time for all the women of the country</l>
					<l>to vote in Presidential Primaries, it is vitally necessary for</l>
					<l>Vermont to take its place among the 36 states.</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>Of course you realize that this can be accomplished but in one</l>
					<l>way-- by our Governor calling a special session of the legislature</l>
					<l>before February first, 1920.</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>The Committee on Ratification for the Vermont Equal Suffrage</l>
					<l>Association is most grateful for the assistance already given by</l>
					<l>our splendid men, but we are obliged to ask your support in one</l>
					<l>more effort to influence our Governor to call that session, by t</l>
					<l>taking part in our last whirl-wind drive to that end.</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>I am enclosing a petition, copies of which are going to those</l>
					<l>men who besides being staunch friends of woman suffrage, we con-</l>
					<l>sider the recognized heads of groups of our citizens in all walks</l>
					<l>of life, asking them to sign the petition and forward same to well-</l>
					<l>known men in their particular group or profession, they in turn to</l>
					<l>repeat the process until the paper is filled with signatures, when</l>
					<l>it may be returned to me at above address. For the purpose of</l>
					<l>saving time, I ask you to have this letter enclosed each time with</l>
					<l>the petition, if necessary to send by mail, thereby avoiding con-</l>
					<l>fusion as to purpose and destination of petition. I am placing</l>
					<l>your name at the head of the group of Judges, and shall greatly</l>
					<l>appreciate having the returns sent in at the earliest possible</l>
					<l>opportunity.</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>Thanking you for past favors, and relying on your cooperation</l>
					<l>at this most crucial time, I remain,</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>Very truly yours,</l>
					<l>Chairman of Ratification for Vermont</l>
				</lg>
