					<l>15 November, 1919</l>
					<l>Mr. John Spargo</l>
					<l>Old Bennington</l>
					<l>Vermont</l>
					<l>My dear Mr. Spargo:-</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>Our State President, Dr. Horton, Has</l>
					<l>sent me your letter in which you offer your services in</l>
					<l>helping us to obtain the promise of a special session from</l>
					<l>Governor Clement. We appreciate deeply your valued</l>
					<l>interest in behalf of justice to the women of our country,</l>
					<l>and sincerely hope that your cooperation will bring success.</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>Senator Frank G. Howland of Barre is Chairman of the</l>
					<l>legislative committee which is to call upon the Governor</l>
					<l>and formally ask for the special session, and he is waiting</l>
					<l>for the opportune moment, which under the circumstances,</l>
					<l>must be chosen with care and forethought! In talking</l>
					<l>with the Senator this morning I mentioned your desire to</l>
					<l>assist and I am sure he would be glad to hear from you on</l>
					<l>the ways and means.</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>Please accept my congratulations and thanks for the very</l>
					<l>fine letter you wrote the Governor; would it be possible to</l>
					<l>allow our Publicity Chairman, Mrs W. D. Pelley, to use the</l>
					<l>whole or any part of that letter for the Press? If more of</l>
					<l>our prominent men would take the stand that you do, our battle</l>
					<l>would now be won.</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>With regards to Mrs Spargo, I am,</l>
					<l>Very sincerely yours,</l>
					<l>Chairman of Ratification for Vermont</l>
