					<l>Dear Sir:-</l>
					<l>When in Caledonia County last Friday I was about to</l>
					<l>call upon you when I was told by St.Johnsbury people that you</l>
					<l>were attending the Masonic conference in that city and that I</l>
					<l>might see you after four o’clock. I called at the building</l>
					<l>about five being delayed by a puncture, but was told you were</l>
					<l>not there and had not been there!</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>You have doubtless received certain letters from me this</l>
					<l>month asking for your signature on petition to Governor Clement</l>
					<l>for special session. Knowing that you will want your name to</l>
					<l>appear with the long list of prominent legislators already se-</l>
					<l>cured, I trust that you will sign one or the other of enclosed</l>
					<l>blanks and forward same to me at your earliest opportunity.</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>Very truly yours,</l>
					<l>Chairman of Ratification</l>
