<l>SATURDAY</l>
<l>Very busy morning at the office</l>
<l>and this P.M. finished wrapping</l>
<l>John's & Betty's things, also Ella H's</l>
<l>book and took them to the .P.O.</l>
<l>stopping on the way back to</l>
<l>get some groceries. Found Ella</l>
<l>Marie here and we had a</l>
<l>refreshing cup of tea. Isabel</l>
<l>came tonight and will go</l>
<l>up with us on Tuesday.</l>
<l>Very weary and went to</l>
<l>bed with a book at 10:30.</l>
<l>No word from John since he</l>
<l>went back more then ten days</l>
<l>ago. It worries and saddens me.</l>

<l>DECEMBER</l>
<l>23</l>
<l>MONDAY</l>
<l>Cold, raw day and very icy</l>
<l>where the walks were not cleared</l>
<l>yesterday. Isabel, Faye, Elspeth &</l>
<l>I went to church where there was</l>
<l>a good congregation and excellent</l>
<l>music by the adult choir. The</l>
<l>Chapman & Harwood children</l>
<l>were baptized. Since then I have</l>
<l>done accounts, wrapped a</l>
<l>few packages, written some</l>
<l>letters, read the paper and</l>
<l>a little in a new book. Opened</l>
<l>the package from G. Kelso which</l>
<l>has mystified us so much</l>
<l>and found a fine wool shawl</l>
<l>from James which he bought in</l>
<l>Orsk, and entrusted to Mr.</l>
<l>Kelso to bring home for my</l>
<l>Christmas. It is very soft and</l>
<l>warm.</l>

<l>25</l>
<l>WEDNESDAY</l>
<l>I woke up to the rattle of the</l>
<l>stove lids down below and looked</l>
<l>out on a dazzling snowy world.</l>
<l>We had over breakfast in Bunnees</l>
<l>room after which I got dressed and</l>
<l>undertook the tasks of getting order</l>
<l>in the living room, setting the table</l>
<l>and making mother's foamy pudding</l>
<l>sauce for the plum pudding which</l>
<l>Pauline Saunders sent from Vancouver.</l>
<l>We opened our gifts, or at least I did all</l>
<l>of mine and Jean and Bun made a</l>
<l>good beginning. Clarkes Bailey came</l>
<l>in and I gave him his Xmas book.</l>
<l>Helen, Will, Harriet Jean & Janet came</l>
<l>for dinner and we had a very</l>
<l>delicious one with good cheer and</l>
<l>relief that James will be home soon.</l>
<l>They stayed to watch Jean & Bun open the</l>
<l>balance of their many gifts, then left to</l>
<l>welcome Stuart and Lucie who were</l>
<l>driving out from Irasburg for</l>
<l>supper.</l>
