					<l>also Jimmy and Lucille. We were </l>
					<l>very busy until after</l>
					<l>6:00 and I came home very </l>
					<l>weary and had a nap under </l>
					<l>my nice warm blanket.</l>

					<l>Had planned to go to Montpelier</l>
					<l>today &amp; take Joy but I was so </l>

					<l>not want to go so Joy came </l>
					<l>over here for lunch to give </l>
					<l>Jeanie a free time, Carol </l>
					<l>being away. We had lamb</l>
					<l>chops, carrots, baked potatoes</l>
					<l>plum pudding and coffee</l>
					<l>and a very pleasant two</l>
					<l>hours.</l>

					<l>JANUARY </l>
					<l>Today was cold and blustery. </l>
					<l>Went to the church at 10:00</l>
					<l>for the annual parish meeting</l>
					<l>The church was chilly upstairs</l>
					<l>but quite comfortable </l>
					<l>in the dining room. We had</l>
					<l>a good dinner and after</l>
					<l>wards I presided for the first</l>
					<l>Time over the WMS. Did</l>
					<l>not get home until 4:00 so </l>
					<l>refused Jean&apos;s offer of an </l>
					<l>early supper in favor of a </l>
					<l>nap. We left for B. at 6:00 to </l>
					<l>attend the Lane Series - Anna</l>
					<l>Russell, then went to Mrs.</l>
					<l>Tenney&apos;s for a late supper for </l>
					<l>which I was ready. Home at 1:30</l>

					<l>Very cold wind but otherwise</l>
					<l>milder so I decided I could</l>
					<l>clear up the kitchen without</l>
					<l>creating a skating rink</l>
					<l>and tonight it is neat for the</l>
					<l>first time in 3 weeks. got</l>
					<l>off Ruth Osborne&apos;s gift and</l>
					<l>some letters, supper at</l>
					<l>Jean&apos;s and went to the</l>
					<l>Library for a bit, then home</l>
					<l>to do accounts and write</l>
					<l>some more notes.</l>

					<l>It is much warmer today.</l>

					<l>Richard drove Joy and me</l>
					<l>to Montpelier where I treated</l>
					<l>Joy to pancakes and syrup before</l>
					<l>taking her to the train. Went</l>
					<l>to Huntsman&apos;s to get wallpaper</l>
					<l>for my room, also samples</l>
					<l>for the dining room. Called</l>
					<l>on Alice English, did Jean&apos;s</l>
					<l>errands and got home</l>
					<l>about 5:00. Had dinner</l>
					<l>at Jean&apos;s &amp; spent the whole</l>

					<l>This was a very busy day.</l>
					<l>I was up early, for me, and</l>
					<l>spent most of the A.M. in</l>
					<l>cleaning up the downstairs -</l>
					<l>vacuum, dusting etc,</l>
					<l>had a simple lunch and</l>
					<l>was just making the sandwiches</l>
					<l>for the Tea when Bea White came.</l>
					<l>She got out the bandage material</l>
					<l>and went to work, soon to be</l>
					<l>joined by Mabel G. &amp; Mrs. Park.</l>
					<l>Eventually Janet Urie, Isabel</l>
					<l>Marion - plus the three children,</l>
					<l>Helen Rowell and Carol came</l>
					<l>and we had an hour&apos;s dis-</l>
					<l>cussion of the year&apos;s pro-</l>
					<l>gram, then our Tea</l>

					<l>my late rising - 9:00 A.M.</l>

					<l>Sunday, am weary.</l>
					<l>Went to church, to the Library</l>
					<l>for an hour, had dinner</l>
					<l>and did the dishes at Jean&apos;s</l>
					<l>and then went to bed for</l>
					<l>2 hrs. Have written to John</l>
					<l>and several notes etc</l>
					<l>had hot milk &amp; toast</l>
					<l>and now am glad to</l>
					<l>mail my letters and</l>
					<l>get to my bed.</l>

					<l>snowed</l>
					<l>today.</l>
					<l>Slept rather less than well &amp;</l>
					<l>woke up feeling flat. Have</l>
					<l>not done much today except</l>
					<l>get two simple meals and type</l>
					<l>out the WMS. program for</l>
					<l>the officers and committee</l>
					<l>chairmen. Richard came for</l>
					<l>a while this P.M. to cut some</l>
					<l>wood, sweep the barn and</l>
					<l>the cellar which I&apos;m very glad</l>
					<l>to have done. We were all much</l>
					<l>shocked and saddened</l>
					<l>to learn this A.M. that Mary</l>
					<l>Elliott had died of a heart</l>
					<l>attack early this A.M. So far</l>

					<l>6:30 we went by taxi out to</l>
					<l>Georgetown to have dinner</l>
					<l>Had a very good one and a</l>
					<l>pleasant evening. Met Liz, who</l>

					<l>on train and got in on time</l>
					<l>so caught the 8:23 train out</l>

					<l>also called Miss Lamson in re</l>
					<l>AAUW By-Laws revision. She</l>

					<l>Woodbury Gulf road. Home</l>
					<l>about 4:30. Went to Jean&apos;s</l>
					<l>for supper. Miss Cline came</l>
					<l>from Bristol to drive Amy</l>
					<l>back. Very pleasant</l>
					<l>evening, cloudy, warm.</l>

					<l>Eleanor was in a dither</l>

					<l>good. I came home early</l>

					<l>papers in to the Bank. They will</l>
					<l>send them in to sell the</l>
					<l>rights. I did some marketing</l>
					<l>and we drove home in the</l>
					<l>sunshine but it is snowing</l>
					<l>again tonight. Had supper</l>
					<l>with Jean, Carol &amp; Bunnee</l>
					<l>&amp; played canasta with</l>
					<l>one eye on the T.V.</l>
