- Description: Photograph dated Oct. 29, 1940. Original caption reads: This view shows the intersection of Plattsburg Avenue with North Avenue following the completion of the construction of the concrete pavement around the intersection toward the Heineburg Bridge. The leaves in the picture show the evidence of the heavy frost during the day or two previous. Calcium chloride was used in the concrete mixture for rapid cure and for protection because of cold weather. The pavement was also covered with canvas for protection. The cost of this improvement was borne by the special appropriation of $20,000.00 for the North Avenue Pavement Construction.
