        • Description: Nazareth School, Class of 1961, with Msgr. Charles Marcoux. In Fall of 1961, the school will be known as St. Joseph School instead of Ecole Nazareth or Nazareth School. The parish waited, apparently, for another St. Joseph School in Burlington to close before changing the name of its own school. Photo #3.

          • Description: Nazareth School, Class of 1932 (according to the parish history published in 1988), with Rev. Norbert Proulx, pastor (1920-1933), the elder among the four priests. Fr. Proulx oversaw the construction of the new school, which was built in 1929. The students, dressed very elegantly (obviously before caps and gowns became standard), proudly hold their diplomas.

                • Description: 1948 photo of students of the Sodality Council of Mount St. Mary's, a private Catholic girls' school, assembled for a formal group photo. They wear necklaces (religious medallions?). School was located on Mansfield Ave. in Burlington, Vermont. Sodalities were lay organizations dedicated to personal piety and service to others. The priest in this photo may be the Rev. Barry E. Fontaine of the Catholic diocese of Burlington. The statue of Christ displays the Sacred Heart, and some of the "sodalists" have flowers to decorate the shrine. Photo #2.

Newman Clubs (named after John Henry Cardinal Newman) provided spiritual guidance and social activities to Catholic students at secular colleges. At the time of this photo, which appears in the 1953 Ariel (UVM yearbook), the home of the Newman Club was at 118 Pearl St. The priest pictured here is Fr. William R. Mulligan. Seated next to him is faculty adviser Catherine F. Nulty, a professor in the UVM Education department. Photo #45.
